Schmidt Groupe and Cubro Unite to Transform Interior Design for the Digital Generation

Schmidt Groupe (Schmidt, Cuisinella, ID Pro and Spoon & Room), a specialist in bespoke and personalised home living solutions and kitchens, has announced that it is acquiring a majority interest in Spanish start-up Cubro, a pioneer in digital interior design. Through this agreement, Schmidt Groupe and Cubro are laying the foundations for accelerating their ambitious omnichannel model across Europe.

Taking steps towards a new growth era

Cubro was founded in Madrid by Jaime Pont and Jorge Cienfuegos back in 2019. After forging a commanding foothold in the Spanish market, the company began building its reputation in Europe through its unique value proposition of transforming furniture units into bespoke, design-led projects with an extensive range of stylish fronts.

  • A seamless and intuitive omnichannel experience
  • Over €6 million in revenue in 2024
  • Fast international growth fuelled by a committed and creative community

“In Schmidt Groupe, we’ve found a solid, people-driven partner who shares the same vision as our company. This alliance will bring a whole new dimension to our company without losing any of our agility or individuality.”

— Jaime Pont, CEO of Cubro

Complementary brand identities

This agreement will enable Schmidt Groupe to meet several of its strategic priorities:

  • Strengthen its global presence by joining forces with an up-and-coming Spanish brand that has already achieved recognition in the international market through its design and digital approach.
  • Ramp up its omnichannel transformation by incorporating new business activities, developing new expertise and harnessing new talent.
  • Grow its business in the millennials and opinion leaders target markets: Cubro appeals to young, highly urban customers who look towards digital technology for their inspiration. Cubro has also managed to build strong ties with interior designers, architects and opinion leaders.
  • Create operational synergies by combining Cubro’s digital agility with Schmidt Groupe’s strength and experience in manufacturing and logistics.

“Cubro brings a new perspective to interior design based on simplicity, an enhanced customer experience and digital technology. This partnership naturally builds on our determination to innovate with an even greater impact and make the world a better place to live in.”

— Anne Leitzgen, CEO of Schmidt Groupe

Shared ambitions for the future

“With this partnership, we’ll be allowing Cubro to benefit from our expertise, and in return, we’ll be making the most of their omnichannel expertise to better win over millennials. This acquisition means that we can take our development ambitions for Schmidt and Cuisinella to the next level through our networks, while breaking into new markets with Cubro.”

Laurent Blum – Chief Executive of Schmidt Groupe

Cubro will retain its independence, team and brand, while Schmidt Groupe will bring its industrial expertise, logistics power and European presence to the table.
